Experience
Lived in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico 1986-1990 Taught English to the Mexican people full time. Privately tutored business executives who needed to speak English fluently as part of their job duties. While still a student at Frederick Community College, I traveled to Mexico to carry out independent studies in Archeology, Art, and Photography. Composed 10 drawings and 10 paintings for my art study. While staying there for 7 months, my art instructor and her husband traveled to Merida, Yucatan, where I was staying, so they could enjoy the excitement of my studies. I submitted my drawings and paintings to my instructor. She submitted my grade of an "A" after returning to the college. My archeology study required me to study 3 different cultures, taking pictures of the 3 sites and artifacts from each one. I started with the Mayan sites in the area of the Yucatan Penisula. then traveled over 1,000 miles from Merida to Mexico City to study and get photographs of the sites built by the Toltecs, and the Aztecs. I went to the Archeological Museum to get pictures of artifacts from each. I wrote a research paper including dates and photographs of each, and describing the similarities and differences between the 3 cultures. I loved the traveling. The research paper was time consuming, and not the easiest paper I ever wrote, but I would do it again and again! What an enjoyable challenge, and great way to study outside of the classroom!! Later, in 2000, I traveled to the Yucatan Peninsula again, and took about 100 photos of that area. I composed a photo album with cut lines under each describing what was in the picture. I received 3 college credits with final grades of an "A" for each of my 3 studies! I love helping others, and sharing my experiences of living in another country, and talking about the cultural differences, Since I have taught several ESOL students, it is always interesting to have them speak about their country, and the different cultural ways between there and the United States. It's a great inspiration for each of us. They have to speak to me in English when they do it!!

Hobbies
I enjoy traveling anywhere, whether it is to another country, or somewhere right here in the United States. I now live in Port Charlotte, Florida, where I am able to enjoy the warm weather, beaches and palm trees. In the fall, I like traveling back to my home state, being Maryland, to enjoy visiting family, and getting to see the changing of the leaves. I exercise at local fitness centers. I have a lifetime membership at the L.A. Fitness Centers, where I go to exercise using the equipment, and swim in the heated pool, then relax in the whirlpool, before showering and going home feeling great!! I love dancing. The Cha Cha, Latin Hustle, and Salsa are 3 of my favorites.
