Education

I graduated High School in Georgia and went all the way to ASU in Tempe, AZ. I took great classes and spent so much time in their enormous library just wishing all that literature would soar into me! After two years I moved to Vermont and went to Community College of Vermont and then a semester later to Champlain College. Champlain was the best campus because most every classroom had a view of Lake Champlain so it was great scenery and awesome lectures. I then moved to Maine because of my family and went to Stratham Technical where I earned my CNA license. I feel all the experience and knowledge I soaked in helped me be great at being a CNA. I got a Job at York Hospital on the Med/Tech floor caring for patients who were ill or just had surgery. Every patient had to be treated differently, not the quality of care but some were very happy to be cared for while others were so grumpy it was like a dark cloud descended right before entering their room. Tread lightly was my mantra but because I'm a comedian at heart I still tried to get a smile or laugh out of them! After a year the hospital trained me to be a phlebotomist and draw blood on the patients. I loved doing this! I got to spend more time with the patients and try and break the ones who decided they were going to be mad at the world. It's funny because I still can't watch people draw my blood but I'll be the first in line to draw someone else's blood! Life is funny.

Experience

My best friend, Shannon, always tells me that I should have been a teacher because I love helping people understand anything they are struggling with. It warms my heart the moment I see that they "get it"! And it works both ways because I love to be taught and explained new concepts or information. My teachers used to call me the "Why" student because I always wanted to know that! I was an A or B student all through my 12 years of school...the B's started when boys came into the picture! But I managed to put blinders on and exel in all my AP classes. I loved those periods because the teacher treated us differently because he knew we were wanted to learn something that day. I took all the prep classes for taking the SAT and when I took it I couldn't see why I was so nervous...it wasn't that bad! But if I knew then what I know now I would have put more effort into my essays for the college application. After talking to the Dean of Stratham Tech he said that more of the decision is made on the quality of your essay. Man, that could have saved me alot of heartache senior year! In retrospect the path that I chose, transferring from different colleges, different locations...it was the way for me!

Hobbies

My three dogs, Kayla, Ally and Ginger keep me very busy. Ginger came into my life unexpectedly and she was much worse off then what I was going through; so I took a deep breath and focused on getting Ginger as far away from the trash can she was living in and closer to me and getting better. My parents always say that if there is a dog in need in my close vicinity then the animal and I will find the same path and I'll bring them home. But with Ginger I had to tread lightly because from the looks of the three chains around her neck that were locked together with a padlock the owner of her didn't look like he was a reasonable man. But life surprised me and when I went to ask him if he was able to care for this dog he said "Take it"! I was shocked and disgusted by that response and also ecstatic that I was going to leave there with Ginger! I brought her over to my friends house and we had to use a bolt cutter to get the chains off and then she had to be bathed twice with liquid Dial soap because of the insane flea infestation that she was dealing with. It took almost six months to get her to a place where she knew who loved her, who always had fresh food for her, who took her for walks and played with her new toys. Dogs are resilient to the point where I needed to incorporate that mantra into my life. My rebound rate now is lightning fast! Now if I can only teach her that doors are not her enemy we will have 100% recovery! I also volunteer at the Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary in Punta Gorda. All the animals there were rescued from very bad situations and I just go there once a week to do what I can to help...and my ulterior motive to spend time with my favorite animal: THE SLOTH! Sloths move like they don't have a care in the world. ...I love that! They just take it easy and smile becasue they are perfectly content with their veggies and fruit. Live Slow. Another mantra. I also love going to the theater to watch movies...the new Jurassic Park is next month and I want a front row seat! I read at least a book a week and am well know at the Charlotte library! My indulgence is crime novels! I love to try and figure out who "did it" before the book tells me!
